Published by Hatje Cantz, the monograph marks the anniversary of the Mexico City firm, now rebranded asFREE Fernando Romero EnterprisE, founded by Romero ten years ago after a three-year stint at OMA in Rotterdam. One of the exalted ‘Baby Rems,’ Romero is on course to become one of his generation’s most promising architects.

The recently-opened Museo Soumaya in Mexico City (funded by Mexico’s richest billionaire, Carlos Slim, who also happens to be Romero’s father-in-law) is the building that just might make Romero famous, though he’s completed a vast array of buildings in his ten years on the scene. Part of the core team has also moved into a Chelsea loft in New York, so with any luck the US will soon benefit from Romero’s forays into luxury apartments, low-cost housing projects, museums, banks, schools, bridges.
