Four Gables

Set deep in the woods just over the bridge from Sag Harbor, this residence appears discreet and unassuming from the road, though different from the other houses in this secluded private community. The home’s uniqueness comes from its form: four separate gabled and shingle-clad structures connected by an interior breezeway. Wooden slats through a grid of square windows along the connector subtly reveal movement and activity inside. The spine directs circulation through the lower level of the two-story boxes, each containing a distinct function: living quarters, two bedrooms and separate guest quarters. As the shingles and slats weather to a soft gray, the house will blend even more into its natural surroundings.
